I’m so relieved that Chick-fil-A offers a variety of gluten-free and gluten-friendly menu items, including their famous chicken, for those with gluten sensitivities. With detailed ingredient lists available for each location, I know people have what they need to plan their meal accordingly. Below, I’ve put together a detailed guide to gluten-free and gluten-friendly options at Chick-fil-A, including specific menu items to enjoy and precautions to take when dining out.

gluten free chick-fil-a items

If you’re craving some juicy, finger lickin’ gluten-free chicken, Chick-fil-A has you covered. Along with their gluten-free chicken, Chick-fil-A offers a variety of gluten-free and gluten-friendly options, so you can enjoy your meal without worrying about gluten or wheat. Their website provides detailed ingredient lists for each menu item (specific to each location) and a Nutrition and Allergen Guide to plan your meal whether you dine in or out.

Chick-fil-A’s transparency regarding ingredient and allergen information makes it possible for families to enjoy their menu while sticking to a gluten-free or gluten-friendly diet. However, like many other fast food chains, there’s still a risk of cross-contamination from shared work spaces, utensils, preparation methods, as well as variations in supplier ingredients. If you have celiac disease or another health condition that requires strict gluten avoidance, it’s important to exercise caution when dining out.

Chick-fil-A Gluten-Free Official Statement

We value Chick-fil-A’s commitment to transparency regarding ingredients, allergen information, variations in supplier ingredients, and disclosure of shared cooking and preparation areas. Chick-fil-A’s official statement on ingredient and nutrition information reads as follows:

“ Due in part to the handcrafted nature of our food, there may be variation in serving sizes and preparation techniques. Variations may also occur due to  product testing, supply sources, regional differences, and seasonal offerings. This variation may impact the nutrition values for each product. Chick-fil-A has made a reasonable and good-faith effort to calculate nutrition and ingredient information based on standard product formulations and serving sizes. This nutrition information is calculated from one or more of the following: data provided by approved suppliers; testing in accredited laboratories; and the USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference. Please visit your local Restaurant’s menu page to see ingredients. Any customers with further questions regarding specific dietary concerns are advised to contact Chick-fil-A CARES at 1-866-232-2040.”

Chick-fil-A also has a dedicated page about gluten-free offerings that states:

“While we consider the list of menu offerings below to support a gluten-free or reduced-gluten diet we recommend you check the ingredients of each item in our menu section or in a Nutrition Guide available in our restaurants to ensure you are dining within your specified allergies.

Due to the handcrafted nature of our food, variations in our supplier ingredients and our use of shared cooking and preparation areas, we can’t ensure that our restaurant environment or any menu item prepared in the restaurant (other than those listed above) will be completely free of gluten. However, for our guests who are looking to minimize gluten intake, we suggest the following menu items.”

Special Requests

To reduce the risks of cross contamination, you can ask the Chick-fil-A kitchen staff to clean all appliances and utensils and change gloves before preparing your order. While there’s no guarantee of complete contamination prevention or that they will comply, it’s worth asking.
